This is a personal memoir about growing up in Yorkshire in
the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and later. It is not always about Yorkshire, nor is
it entirely based on memories, but most of it is. You might recognise locations
but I have changed the names and details of any individuals mentioned in order to protect identities.
When you start blogging you are sure you’re going to be the next Alan Bennett, but soon realise you’re no better than Tony. That being said, I like to think I’ve learned something during the four and a half years and one hundred anf fifty or so posts since starting out. I have definitely gained greater respect for the professionals who do this kind of thing so well, not just Alan Bennett but others mentioned from time to time, such as Ian Jack, Helen Garner, Gervaise Phinn and Bill Bryson.
I may revisit and revise posts from time to time.
